We just wanted to congratulate Maddie North on receiving a PhD scholarship! Maddie has been studying and working part-time during her PhD, and now with a scholarship she can spend more time on her PhD and less time marking papers

Results are rolling in for some of our 4th year students, so we just want to congratulate everyone on their achievement of completing 4th year in a pandemic (whether they did it through the Misinformation Lab or anywhere else).

4th year student Rachel Stewart has made it through to the Grand Final of the Let’s Torque Competition. This year Grand Finalists will have their presentations pre-recorded, thenlive streamed on Facebook with an interactive Q&A from a panel of esteemed science communicators, including Dr Jen Martin, Prof Alan Duffy and Alanta Colley.

A hearty congratulations to this years 4th years for presenting their 4th year projects to the lab over the past few weeks. These were conducted via Zoom, and all students did a wonderful job.

Congratulations to Rachel who’s made it to the Semi-finals of Let’s Torque for 2020! Let’s Torque is an inter-university public speaking competition where students have the chance to present on a ground-breaking STEM concept, and explain how it could benefit Australia.

The Misinformation Lab is hiring! We’re looking for a Part-time (0.6) Associate RF to join us for the rest of the year to principally support the work of Emily Kothe. The position is fixed term to November 2021 and can be located in Melbourne (Burwood) or remotely.

We’re really happy to have a new crop of 4th year students joining the lab this week. This year we will have students in the lab working on projects with Mathew Ling, Anna Klas, Kate Barford and Richard Moulding.

The Misinformation Lab had a smaller presence at the Australasian Society of Behavioural Medicine with Emily off on maternity leave (this is the first ASBHM she has missed since she started going in 2008!

We’re happy to introduce our newest (and youngest ever!) lab member this week. Emily and her husband have just welcomed a baby boy to the world and we can’t wait to have him visit the lab.
