Eddie Clarke, Anna Klas, and Emily Kothe will all be heading over to Wellington for SASP2018 in early April. We will be presenting some hot off the press data related to projects we’ve run over the last 12 months.

Congratulations to Eddie Clarke on formally graduating his PhD today. Dr Clarke’s thesis “Climate Change Denial: The Effects of Ideological Polarisation and Threat” used system justification theory and political ideology to understand sub-types of climate change denial.

With 2018 in full swing, Misinformation Lab members have been putting the finishing touches on our offering of 4th-year research projects for 2018. We’ve got an exciting set of projects on offer covering climate change denial, vaccine hesitancy, pro-environmental behaviour, and message framing.

Congratulations to our 2017 4th year students who submitted their theses today. All our students have worked really hard this year and should be very proud of their achievements.

Misinformation Lab members Emily Kothe and Mathew Ling were awarded a 2018 HaTCH grant for their project “Identifying Effective Persuasive Messages for Vaccination and Climate Change Denial”. The project also involves Associate Professor Barbara Mullan (Curtin University) and Matthew Fuller-Tyszkiewicz (Deakin University).

Congratualtions to Eddie Clarke who was awarded the Deakin University Faculty of Health HDR Publication Award. This award will support Eddie developing work from his thesis into journal articles.

Congratulations to lab Members Anna Klas and Eddie Clarke (along with Deakin colleagues Lucy Zinkiewicz and Jin Zhou) who submitted their paper “Not all environmentalists are like that…”: Unpacking the negative and positive outgroup stereotypes of environmentalists as a preprint to the Open Science Framework today.
